Hyundai to Sponsor 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup™

Posted on June 23, 2011

Hyundai Motor Company is one of FIFA’s official partners! Hyundai has delivered hundreds of vehicles to the local organizing committee (LOC) of FIFA Women’s World Cup™, including buses to help transport many of the 16 qualified teams.  Over 289 sedans and SUV’s like the ix35, ix55, H1, and the Santa Fe, on top of 11 buses will be given for transportation and each will be Hyundai branded.  Fifa officials, organizers, national teams, referees, VIP guests and members of the media will be using these vehicles throughout the tournament.  The games begin on June 26 and continue through July 17, 2011.

Hyundai first signed on as a FIFA sponsor in 1999, initiating the relationship between Hyundai and football to be revealed on an international platform. Now one of the strongest supporters of football in the entire world, Hyundai has been the official sponsor of the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea / Japan™, the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ and the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, as well as many other FIFA tournaments including the FIFA Confederations Cup.   Future agreements have already been made as well to secure Hyundai as an official sponsor for the 2014 and 2022 World Cups as well.

“The opportunity to provide VIP transport at this momentous tournament gives us the high visibility we need in Europe and the world to raise awareness of our brand and products,” Mr. Chang Kyun Han, President of Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH, confirmed at the official sponsor ceremony at the World Cup stadium in Frankfurt, Germany. “FIFA’s football tournaments convey dynamism, excitement and passion. They are precisely the attributes we want to deliver and share with our customers,” Mr. Chang Kyun Han added as other supporters and Fifa participants looked on with excitement.  Among many attendees in the crowd was football superstar, Jurgen Klinsmann of Germany, who is also the Hyundai’s ambassador for Germany; LOC President Steffi Jones, LOC general coordinator Ulrich Wolter, and Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH CEO Werner H. Frey.

“Again with Hyundai, we have no doubt that we will successfully carry out 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany™,” LOC President Steffi Jones reiterated at the ceremony.  There is no doubt that Hyundai is a confident and respected sponsor for the FIFA organizations.  Let the games begin!!
