Keffer Hyundai of Charlotte North Carolina Supports Middle School Athletics
The second annual Big South 5K road race was held October 8, 2011 with Keffer Hyundai being one of 2 major supporters. This even helps to raise funds for middle school-aged athletic programs in Charlotte, North Carolina, and also creates scholarships for Big-South Conference student-athletes. In 2010, the event registered 1,000 participants, and 46 middle schools received donations. This year the race held a respectable 884 registered competitors and the event was, yet again, a huge success. This year, the race raised about $20,000! Read more
Congress Votes to Approve Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement
Hyundai and Hyundai dealers in the U.S. will benefit from the recently approved United States – Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA), which was passed by Congress yesterday. This will bring tariff reductions and was truly a monumental day in Washington. Now that Congress has approved this bill, President Obama is expected to sign the bill into law as early as today, October 13. Korean lawmakers must also approve the agreement, and if both sides pass the law, free trade with the Republic of Korea is scheduled to be implemented as early as 2012. The agreement calls for an immediate removal of the U.S. tariff on all auto parts, removal of the U.S. 2.5% passenger vehicle tariff in five years, and removal of the U.S. 25% truck tariff in ten years. Hyundai Gives Hope On Wheels
If you walk into your local Hyundai dealership today, you might notice a different type of campaign around the store called “Hope on Wheels,” which is a united effort including Hyundai dealers from around the country, who are joining together to raise awareness about childhood cancer, and to celebrate the lives of those who battle the disease. This program has seen great success in the past, including over $2 million in donations during the 2010 campaign given to 44 children’s hospitals across the country to support training and research for the doctors involved in childhood cancer research.
